Inspired by Northern history
I am a self-taught jewellery maker and designer. Originally I am an archaeologist and have a passion for past and ancient things. I've also always loved to draw and paint, to craft, so when I started making jewellery in 2010 I just combined these two interests.
I get my inspiration mainly from Finnish and Northern European history, prehistory and mythology, but also from music and nature.
I design and make symbol jewellery out of organic and natural materials. Every piece is unique as they are handmade starting from scratch. They tell a story about the past, about the world long lost, about our roots and ancestors: who we are and where we come from.
Sun is the shield of the clouds
and shining ray
and destroyer of ice.
(old Icelandic rune poem)
The motifs and inscriptions I use in my jewellery are shamanistic images from the Finnish Stone Age and runic inscriptions from real European archaeological finds. The symbols are runes and other ancient symbols like spirals, axes, hammers and solar crosses/wheels.
